At age 28, rapper Little Wayne says he’s done with the rap game after his next album, Tha Carter IV. (Prefix) When will that be? Who knows. The release date for Tha Carter IV has been pushed from May 16 to June 21 to August 29.
Why would one of the world’s most successful rappers quit at the top of his game? In Weezy’s own words,
I’m bowing out still on top. I’ma make y’all want me when I retire. I’ma make y’all be like, ‘Nooo!’ I ain’t leaving out this bitch when y’all be like, ‘Yeah, it’s about time, dawg.’ (XXL Magazine)
His kids were also a consideration in this supposed decision. “I’m super dedicated into what I do… I don’t have a day out my week that I do something else… it’s unfair to my kids.
Bullshit. Whatever the reasons Weezy tosses out, no matter how good they are, he ain’t retiring. Weezy’s gonna’ be making albums as long as he’s getting paid!
Remember, we’ve heard this story before. Jay-Z’s November 25, 2003 concert at Madision Square Garden was supposedly a “retirement party”. Since then he’s released three albums and embarked on several major tours.
