Virtual Boy – Doom – video

Alpha Pub beat slinger Virtual Boy just dropped his second EP this year, Symphony No. None B-Sides, featuring two remixes of “Mass” (from this year’s Symphony No. None EP). Also, there’s a killer track called “Heatwave” and the banger that you’ll hear when you click play in the video below, “Doom”.

Virtual Boy are two classically-trained Southern California musicians (Henry Allen and Preston Walker) that came together at Chapman University’s Conservatory of Music (one studied guitar, the other was in the choir). The group is said to “owe as much to Bach and Mozart as they do to Ratatat” as well as Air, Nosaj Thin and The Glitch Mob. On “Doom” we definitely hear Air and Nosaj Thing colliding as glimmering synths and cosmic textures layer over a warbling dubstep.

About down.caster

Downcaster(s) is not a music critic, he's a music fan. So he usually doesn't talk about music from a "you should listen to this because it's moving art forward" perspective. He likes the "you should listen to it because it kicks ass" perspective.
