You’ve found a website called The Downcast where we talk about awesome music; mostly in the indie rock, indie techno, underground hip-hop, folk and metal categories. We post news, reviews, free songs, videos and a bunch of other stuff.
We’re not music critics. We’re music fans. Although we do sometimes get critical and say aggro things about music that really annoys us. Not that we’re all that angry. In fact, the most common adjectives (or adverbs… we’re not sure… we’re not good at English or Math) used at Downcast.com are “totally awesome”, “rad”, “bad ass” and “very cool”.

Downcaster(s) is not a music critic, he's a music fan. So he usually doesn't talk about music from a "you should listen to this because it's moving art forward" perspective. He likes the "you should listen to it because it kicks ass" perspective.
